Florida Dachshund Rescue

Florida Dachshund Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation & placement of homeless dachshunds into loving and permanent homes. We have members & foster homes all over the state of FL and are constantly bringing in dachshunds in need, getting them healthy, and then matching them up with homes that go through our application process that includes a home visit. All of our foster homes go through the same application process including a background check and home visit, to ensure that the dachshunds will receive the best care on their journey to their forever home.

I have attached a few photos of one of this years rescues. B.B. was an owner turn in – the owners claimed she was in perfect health, they just didn’t have time for her anymore. We were completely shocked when she was given to us completely emaciated on May 20, 2010. BB had been kept completely isolated in her previous home, and really blossomed being in a household and as part of the family. As she gained weight she also gained confidence, and started to glow with health and happiness. Less than a month later, June 11, 2010, she was considered healthy and was able to go to her forever home, where she is the love of a retired couples life, and enjoys spending days by the pool, going on walks & accompanying her new Dad on rides on the lawnmower in her special basket.
